Wie bist Du zur Kunst gekommen?
As a child I drew a lot and actually wanted to become a comic artist; as a teenager I came into contact with graffiti; a study of painting and illustration was obvious. Originally I had planned to earn my money with illustration and graphics, but already during my studies I realized that I enjoy creating artworks and realizing my own ideas without guidelines the most. After my studies I worked as a freelance illustrator and commissioned painter for wall designs and also accepted graphic commissions. After two years of permanent employment at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg in the field of 3D, I decided to focus on my own art projects.
Welchem Themenfeld der Ausstellung fühlst Du Dich mit deinen Arbeiten am ehesten zugehörig?
Kunst zugänglich(er) machen
Warum hast Du Dich auf „Imagine Transparency" beworben?
I am particularly attracted to it because I am breaking new ground in the creation of my artworks; I am combining analog art techniques with new media to create art in the virtual world by using 3D software, although it is still predominantly used in areas such as advertising, games and film. Although digital media are now also used artistically, most of the works are very similar and often seem "clichéd", which is also due to the fact that digital media such as 3D software is often used by users who have more technical than artistic understanding, on the other hand, through social media "trends" are also set in this area; it is sometimes about serving or imitating a common aesthetic, which generates as much attention as possible.
Kurzbeschreibung Deines eingereichten Projekts:
The artworks refer to the classical portrait art, painting and sculpture; I elaborate them with a digital medium, 3D software. I still orient myself to analog painting and always use works of art history as inspiration for my digital artworks, combined with modern aesthetics that reflect the current zeitgeist. I would like to interpret and continue so classic subjects of art such as the portrait and sculpture in a modern way.
Was oder wen siehst Du aktuell nicht in „der Kunstszene“ bzw. was fehlt Dir?
I miss the surprise, which should offer any form of art in my opinion. I try to design my digital artworks starting from the classic analog painting, especially in terms of color, composition and image structure and so with a modern medium to transport deceleration rather than acceleration, which is often neglected in a very fast-paced and digitalized world.
Kannst Du von Deiner Kunst leben?
Yes. I also work on commissions, so I'm covered.
Wo können wir Deine Kunst „in echt“ sehen?
On the Internet (what is already more or less something like "real life") and at changing exhibitions where I show fine art prints, videos and sculptures as well
